We've all heard the phrase, "carpe diem" or "seize the day". Some of us have used its variant, "carpe noctem".
Well, any of you linguaphiles out there, I would like to figure out what it would be to say, "seize the pun." My handy-dandy Latin dictionary suggests two words for pun: facetiae and logos. When I look up facetiae, it tells me that it means "wit, drollery, humour." Hmmm. Logos is, first and foremost, "a word," however it also carries the meaning "a joke, jest, bon mot". Considering that a pun is, essentially, a play on words, would logos not be the better translation? If any of you have taken or dabbled in Latin, do you know another word better suited to the task?
Should my motto, indeed, be "carpe logum?"
( Wherein I explain some of my confusion... )
In any case... can any of you recommend some good lesbian pornography? (I have a feeling that mechanchaos and I would both get something out of watching it...) I keep finding crap on the intarwebs where the girls look like they can barely stomach what they're doing. I'd rather see realistic women who look like they know and enjoy what their doing.
Thanks to an article on Wikipedia, the link to which I found in naamah_darling's post, I learned tonight:
In an episode of the satirical panel show QI on the BBC, Rory Bremner pointed out that President George W Bush frequently refers to himself as A Merkin due to the way he pronounces the word American. For instance: "I'm proud to be a merkin."
I knew it! George W. Bush really is a twat-toupee!
