Because we never really know each other as well as we think, in response to this post I'd like you to ask a question. Anything about which you are curious, anything you feel you ought to know about me. Silly, serious, personal, fannish. Ask away. Then copy this to your own journal, and see what people don't know about you.

'sOK This is a question I like answering.

Almost five years ago, our cat Minerva gave birth to six kittens. The one in the picture is a female tabby by the name of Epiphany. Epiphany is now at home with [livejournal.com profile] ecwoodburn in Virginia, quite a distance from Rochester, New York where she was born. :)

Of that litter we kept two kittens, Zephyr (grey tuxedo cat) and Morpheus (all black. Dweezil, an orange tabby, now lives with [livejournal.com profile] dawnstar and [livejournal.com profile] kolys. Floramel the tortie-tabby, and Crookshanks the ginger tom now live with [livejournal.com profile] cheshire23 and [livejournal.com profile] ravenshrinkery.

I value the memories of being there for the birth of the kittens. It was fascinating to get to be there as they grew from scant handfuls of fur and purrs to independent kittens in need of families all their own. (As Zephyr just climbed onto my lap for snuggles and purrs.)

We have two other cats as well. Leo was an orphan I got to hand raise, who still acts like I'm his Mom. Dixie spent her first three and a half years living at a shelter. She's shy, but delightfully playful. I'd be a crazy cat lady if [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos and our finances would let me. :)

Do you have any pets?

yeah! that's cool. We currently have 2 cats, 1 dog and 2 horses. At our peak, we had 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 horses, 2 rats, 2 button quail, 1 pheasant, 6 mice, and 27 chickens. That's all I can remember that is. Oh, and we had a parrot and a parakeet and 2 finches.

so, yeah.. pets.

The chickens all got eaten... not by us. sad story... skunks and dogs and raccoons all seem to love chickens. the rats and mice died, the pheasant escaped, the quail thankfully died (they were noisy as sin,) the parakeet sadly died, and the parrot very sadly died, as she was much too young and got sick. One of the dogs died of old age, as did both the cats, which have been replaced.

On the plus side, we did get to see many of the chicks actually hatch... we had a brooder setup in one of our rooms. It was very cool. Funny, fluffy little wobbly chicks... somewhat confused but definitely desiring warmth and cuddling.

Wow! At your peak, you had quite the menagerie! I used to have pet rats and mice. I loved them dearly, but they passed away.

I've never seen chicks up close. That sounds like it was neat to be there for. Definitely sad that so many other critters made food of them.

I think it's excellent that you have horses. Someday, if I get a place in the country, I'd love to have a horse. Thanks lots for sharing info about your animals!
