When we got home from watching the Irondequoit fireworks last night, we found that Leo had vomited. His bladder didn't seem out of shape, so we went to sleep. I woke up at 7am this morning to the sound of incessant scratching in the litter box. I fed the little guy, thinking that if he lost his dinner he was likely rather hungry by then. He was. He ate all his food, then not ten minutes later, vomited it all up again, this time including the antibiotics we need to give him. It was time to call the vet. We got in there at 9:40. The tech and the vet both confirmed that his bladder wasn't swollen or blocked. One problem that might be happening is an ill reaction to the antibiotic. Another is less usual, but still in the running: he might still have an inflamed and painful urethra. Least likely, but still worth looking into is the possibility that Leo might have a small stone of some sort left in his bladder. I arranged to have the bladder x-rays sent from Animal Emergency Services to our veterinarian so he can check them out for his own peace of mind and ours.
In the meantime, Leo's on a different antibiotic to try to combat any reaction in case that was the problem. In case of inflammation, I have some more of a medication he'd finished as of Saturday to help relax the area and combat the uckies.
The good news is that he didn't have to go back in overnight. No recatheterization or IV. We're working with the meds side of things and keeping a close eye on the little guy to make sure things go smoothly.
