I feel the need to thank our ancient Taoist friends for trying to find an elixir of immortality. They brought us those wonderful and beautiful explosives I love to see this time of year. :)

mechanchaos and I went to the Town of Henrietta fireworks this time. Despite the mobs of people already there, we found an awesome parking space at the senior center, and non-muddy seats on some metal risers next to a baseball diamond on top of a hill. We were away from the crowd and away from the tent-city of their other festivities, but not too far from either. We could hear the music, first from a cover band, then the music for the pyrotechnics. The hill was high enough and open enough that we could see peoples' personal displays in the neighborhoods 360 degrees around where we sat. They were awesome seats for the main fireworks too, especially since we weren't crowded, damp, or muddy. I loved the show, even though I'm one of those folks who needs to stick her fingers in her ears in order to be able to keep her eyes open to watch. I have an overactive flinch reflex.

To top it all off, that great parking spot was quick and easy to get to and quick and easy to get out of. Barely any waiting later, we were on the road home. After having a restless night last night and an early morning today, we'd been quarrelsome in the car on the way there. I'm glad we went anyway. Everything went so smoothly once we were parked and headed over the footbridge to the hill.

Oh, and does anyone on my friends list know Korean? I'm itching to know what taepodong and nodong really mean. My head goes places it shouldn't and I end up tittering every time I see the names of the Korean missiles...

Maybe it's because of the 'nodong' that they need to be putting on such a show of shooting off their missiles...that whole compensation thing...

But as far as I've heard, nodong is just another taepodong, only smaller. Kinda like a clitoris...

Maybe they just need to get laid. I think if more people in positions of power got some a little more often, there wouldn't be so much emphasis on nodong!!

You've got a good point. Damnitol, my head goes to some strange places... Talk of people in positions of power made me invision Bush and his whole "I'll point my army at you if you don't accept my superiority," thing. That just led to an unsolicited mental image of Laura Bush making him bend over and take it up the rear with a strap-on...

I'm glad you had a good night, and I'm sorry we had to miss it. It was for the best, seeing as I got an absolutely shitty night's sleep as it was, so missing an hour or so at the beginning would not have improved matters... but still, it would've been fun to see them with you.

If you need/want rescuing from the homework demons anytime in the next week or two, let me know. Otherwise, I'll try to stay out of your way as much as possible, so I'm not adding to the pressure of end-of-term.

At this point I don't deserve rescuing from school stuff. I spent a lot of time and money to work on a bi-shirt for the parade, only to have the whole mess of it go down the tube with a more-than-an-inch-diameter errant dollop of black fabric paint in the middle of it. :(

Making a mistake does not mean you don't "deserve" anything, sweetheart. You screwed up. It happens. *hugs you tightly* The offer still stands, any time you want it. I am sorry about the shirt, though. I know it's frustrating when things like that happen. :(

The sad part about the incident was that it triggered an outpouring of frustration and despair that had been there independent of the t-shirt. It was a straw...
