( Leo update )
( beautiful day )
Anyone who tries to tell me there's no such thing as global warming can smooch my cellulite and shovel the lake effect snow from my driveway in April.
I've been remiss. A week ago, on December 27, the family and I went down to the Wyoming County SPCA with two bags of cat litter to donate and brought home an adult cat to do our small part to ease their overpopulation of cats. They are a no-kill shelter, which means they don't get government funding. Their catsplosion may shut them down. If you have the room in your heart and home for an adult cat, their adoption fee is waived until January 7. If you have extra blankets, laundry detergent, purina food, or clay or scoopable litter, they welcome donations. I would recommend taking a visit down there, whether you have a little extra you could give or you want a cat. At any given time, I was surrounded by 10-20 cats. There are cats on shelves. There are cats in corners. There are cats in cages. The bulk of the cats are loose in the cat room. There are rows of giant food dishes, water dishes, and litter boxes. Amazingly enough, the smell is minimal for that many animals. We brought a laser pointer and had a load of fun watching a crowd of cats chasing after the evil red dot.

Our new arrival's name is Dixie. She is a grey and white longhair cat who had lived at the shelter for most of her 3 1/2 years. The past couple days she has been allowed to interact with the other cats unsupervised. She purrs loudly when I pet her, and she loves playing with just about every cat toy I have introduced. So far the others have been a bit uncertain of her, just as she is uncertain of them. However, the evil red dot brings out the boldness in all of them.
So far, I don't have the results from Leo. Bloodwork went out, and they're developing the xrays. Things are bittersweet. It's nice that Dixie is in the house, and that Leo's problem isn't bladder-related, but I'm worried about what Leo's issues might be.
Please keep Leo in your thoughts today. It's not his bladder this time. It might be that he has a tummy bug. It might be that his pancreas is inflamed. Then again, it might be that he swallowed something he oughtn't have swallowed and that they have to go in and take out. We'll know more later.

( nightmare I had because of the girlie-bits TMI )
Please wish me luck for my follow-up appointment tomorrow. I'm pretty certain it'll be nothing like that dream. I'm nervous about it anyway.
