So, does it say much about my current mood that I was up and driving towards First Universalist at 8am this morning? I walked in the door to news that service was canceled, though I felt bouncy enough to tell everyone I ran into about Liam. Enough vocally inclined folks had shown up that we had a mini rehearsal even though there was no service, so I stuck around for that before braving the roads again.

Shoveling the car out first was the easy part. The tough bit was trying to keep the sleet from refreezing the entire windshield as I drove there. Luckily, there wasn't that much traffic on the roads to try to avoid!

On the way back, it was clear that the plows had done a few rounds. The sleet didn't let up, the salt wasn't melting the slush piles in the road, and plows had left lines crossing streets and bisecting corners. It was a struggle to refrain from fishtailing, though balancing enough speed to move with the control needed to keep contact with the pavement. I am intensely grateful for all-wheel drive, standard transmission, and anti-lock brakes.

Do you think I have earned a merit badge in Winter driving today?

Anyone who tries to tell me there's no such thing as global warming can smooch my cellulite and shovel the lake effect snow from my driveway in April.
