I talked to my mom today. Yesterday my dad received two more pints of blood, which on that reference scale put him up over 10. Today, his blood was back around 9. Still within the range of normal, they are keeping him at the hospital to make sure his blood loss stabilizes.

The bad news is that the tests yesterday revealed a number of ulcers in his system. My mom doesn't know just how many. She doesn't even think my dad knows how many. At the moment we're just waiting for him to stabilize enough for them to let him come home.

Then, there's me. Yesterday I went on a trip to Ithaca with [livejournal.com profile] hbbtrbbtbcnbt, [livejournal.com profile] dawnstar, and [livejournal.com profile] kolys. Unfortunately, I'd woken up with an unstable digestive system that I was attributing to foods at the time. That resulted in eruptions of several sorts, including a massive one on the way there that I thought would clear things up for me. Unfortunately, it did not. In a cyclical pattern I spent time in and out of the bathroom and spending a lot of time sitting down as I got shakier.

Finally by dinner time, I felt human enough for a plate of selections from the Vegetarian Bar at the Ithaca Wegmans. I continued to feel human enough to drive home in one piece, stay up and watch an episode each of Buffy and Angel, and snack a little once I was home.

At 6:30 a.m. I woke up with the pain in my lower stomach / upper intestines that told me I was in for another round. Sure enough, most of this morning I've been in and out of the bathroom and clutching an ice back to the offending area of my body. I'm a weirdo. I like being refrigerated when sick.

Today, my in-laws are coming for an in-house picnic. I'm probably going to go easy on the food side of things, though I have been feeling human enough for one pudding, a swig of gatorade, and some computer time. I'm currently attributing things to some kind of a tummy bug. I may try to see a doctor on Monday. At the very least, I need to get a particularly nagging sore spot on my back checked out, and I wouldn't mind some advice on how to handle it when I get this kind of tummy uck and absolutely nothing (including gatorade, bland crackers, and meds) will stay down. I'm just hoping it will be gone before then.

I'm sorry you're still feeling badly :( *lots and lots of snuggles and back rubs and other niceness* My student, Tyler, is still very ill, and I'm wondering if you two dont have the same illness.

How did [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos like the gown??

***has been feeling somewhat more human since 1 p.m.*** Maybe we do. I'm leaning toward the tummy bug explanation. Cream of rice is staying down so far, but I'm going to wait overnight before declaring myself well.

[livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos hadn't had the best of days himself between alergies and an altercation with Aidan, so he wasn't feeling great when I first walked in. He did admit that seeing me in it had aroused him. :) He said I did look nice in it. When I asked him how much he thought it cost, he said $30. He liked the lower pricetag. ***nearly typo'd that "lover pricetag"*** ;)

Where in your back is the sore spot? Could this be kidney-related? I know kidney infections and/or stones can cause pain in the back coupled with a lot of the other symptoms you've been having.

Good luck with doctor-things. I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow morning as well.

Thank you, also, for coming and playing Rescue the Starving Kitties for us. *hugs tightly and muches*

It's on the left and way too high to be kidney. I'm actually thinking the back stuff really is more musculo-skeletal since it faded some yesterday and only got worse when I was in an unhelpful position. I haven't had another episode since yesterday 11-12 ish (morning/afternoon), so I might end up forgoing the doctor idea unless the back flares up again.

***hugs lots and tightly***

[livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos was the one who went over to feed the kitties, since I was still feeling not-going-out-ish. You're certainly welcome. I gave him the keys and the rundown of what they usually get. And I got a Wegmans run out of the deal too. :)
