Have you or your doctors looked into poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, out of curiosity? I've had two friends now with major weight issues AND major menstrual issues, both of whom turned out to have PCOS. One doesn't really take care of herself, but the other, between diet and medicine, has managed to gain a lot more control over both weight and period.

That all said, I also know a couple women who've had complete hysterectomies... if it's given you that much trouble for so many years, there's no reason not to get rid of it.
