Almost five years ago, our cat Minerva gave birth to six kittens. The one in the picture is a female tabby by the name of Epiphany. Epiphany is now at home with ecwoodburn in Virginia, quite a distance from Rochester, New York where she was born. :)
Of that litter we kept two kittens, Zephyr (grey tuxedo cat) and Morpheus (all black. Dweezil, an orange tabby, now lives with dawnstar and kolys. Floramel the tortie-tabby, and Crookshanks the ginger tom now live with cheshire23 and ravenshrinkery.
I value the memories of being there for the birth of the kittens. It was fascinating to get to be there as they grew from scant handfuls of fur and purrs to independent kittens in need of families all their own. (As Zephyr just climbed onto my lap for snuggles and purrs.)
We have two other cats as well. Leo was an orphan I got to hand raise, who still acts like I'm his Mom. Dixie spent her first three and a half years living at a shelter. She's shy, but delightfully playful. I'd be a crazy cat lady if mechanchaos and our finances would let me. :)
