(no subject)

Sounds like I've got the same yicky-sicks that other local folks have at the moment. I don't know about fever, but I've got headaches, general achiness, runny nose, cough, and a voice that sounds like it is on its way out for a vacation.

Anyhow, mechanchaos, Aidan, and I are going to visit my parents in Snyder tomorrow... er... today by now. I'm hoping to raid their cd collection for some music to rip, and their record player and old Harry Chapin albums to finally get some songs out of my head that have taken up residence in there lately.

Perhaps Wednesday I will finally get up enough breasticles to go visit the Our Lady of Victory Infant Home, through which the only parents I've ever known had originally procured me. ( Why this is a formidable task... )

I'd like to join mechanchaos in saying thank-you to adrianpaendrag for inviting us to his birthday party Saturday. We both had lots of fun. I'm not always at my best in groups. I tend more to masquerade as a Rubenesque painting, hung askew. Saturday I was decidely more animate. ***smiles***

Also Saturday thanks to kolys for sharing music with us. We do indeed need to get folks together for more of the like. ***grins at dawnstar's mention of the idea ***

I talked to my mom about the adoption and OLV stuff some today and found myself verklempt. This after getting to see my dad get as close as he comes to a stoic weepy in getting out his videos of Harry Chapin and a post-mortem tribute aired on PBS.

After years of suspecting that my dad was drunk when I'd talk about certain things, I realized that the closest he comes to showing nostalgia or melancholy is to slow down and have trouble with stammering a little.

He said to me, videos playing in the background, that it made him proud of me that I was interested in learning about Harry Chapin... I think that was the first time I'd ever heard him say he was proud of me.
