We have a new baby in the household!

[livejournal.com profile] whitesnowrosere called up today, looking for someone to take care of an orphan kitten. He's old enough to have lost his umbilical cord and young enough not to have open eyes. He is about half white and half grey/cream tabby, with the most distinct stripes on his face and tail. We've got KMR in the house, as well as a feeding syringe and kitten sized bottle, though he also likes to suckle formula off my finger.

He just finished a healthy sukle from the bottle and has peed twice at my stimulation. From what I've read, kittens average one bowel movement a day, so it is OK that I haven't seen him poop yet. While I gave him a washcloth bath, he purred!

I just took him over for Minerva to sniff a little. She sniffed and licked him a little on his back. She looked very interested. I'm intent on being cautious, though, since I don't want to risk the possibility that she might do him harm. Still, she looked more maternal than predatorial.

Since tomorrow he will be staying with [livejournal.com profile] hbbtrbbtbcnbt for a time, I'm not going to go further with introducing him to Minerva yet. Still, I'm hoping that she might take him in as her own. If she doesn't, I can care for him, for certain.

Did I forget to mention that I love cats? ***grins***
