Today's Dream

I may be getting a little better at remembering earlier dreams. This morning I thought that I hadn't dreamed. Then I thought about it. A keyword "ritual" popped into my mind, and with it flooded an image of the most memorable scene in the dream.

In all possibility, I could likely have remembered more of it had I woken myself up right away and jotted down an outline.

The main scene in the dream was some sort of occult ritual. It wasn't a typical pagan affair, natural and flowing. The site of the ritual was a dome-like hill constructed of cement. At the top was something of a small amphitheatre, the stage of which was set into the dome somewhat. The top of the wall behind the stage had a walkway and what looked like a castle's battlements. Stone stairways leading up to the walkway flanked the center.

I think before climbing up the dome to the ritual, I'd been to a building nearby. I remember being part of a crowd watching a play in an indoor, proscenium arch theatre. To me that theatre resembled the one at SUNY Oswego. Then the audience had filed out, some of whom climbed the dome to attend the ritual. Robed figures carried staff-sized torches. Center stage, they used the torches to light a large brazier. I don't think I could see their faces, that or they were wearing masks.

I don't remember how it ended, or whether it cycled out of that dream after that particular point.
