Well today has been busy. It took some phone tag and a lot of waiting, but I set up an appointment to pick up Leo at 1:50 and transfer him to our vet at 2:20. I took [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos to work, then hung around in the MCC parking lot until my fast watch said quarter to two. So I drove over to the Emergency Clinic, that hadn't even started getting Leo ready. Time marched and grew slim. When I mentioned the problem to the woman at the desk, she seemed surprised that I needed him that quickly (it was already five past two on my watch).

So she called ARDDA to arrange for Leo's appointment to shift to 2:40. Then they had an issue where the deposit info wasn't in the computer. $400.00 is not a small figure to lose. So they took the remaining $313.38 in the meantime.

Leo was brought out with catheter and IV port still in place. The poor kitty has one of those plastic cones on so he cannot lick himself. The urine in the tube and bag were orangy with blood.

We had enough time to get to our vet with 10 minutes to spare. They welcomed us with an assurance that the PITA they gave the ER clinic folks was because they were dropping the ball, not because they were giving us a hard time. They checked out Leo, and gave me the run down. Best case scenario, he'll be ready to come home Wednesday afternoon / evening. It could take longer if he gets reblocked when they take the catheter out. There are some stubborn cases that do well a little while, but get reblocked once they get home. If his condition proves chronic, surgery on his bladder or urethra could be in order, but it's way to soon to tell that.

Leo even tried to nuzzle me despite the cone. He was so much more himself today even though he was medical-accessories-catten. He tried to climb up on me, "Mommy, take me home." I'm sure the massive ouchies of the bladder are gone, but the minor ouchies and annoyances of the medical equipment aren't any fun for him. It's so weird to have three cats in the house while he's gone.

Then, tired and cranky from the heat, the hassle, and having to see the poor kitty go away again for more vet time, Aidan and I returned home. There on the answering machine was a message telling me that I need to go back to the ER clinic with my receipt so they can straighten out the billing issue.

No. Uh-uh. Not until after we eat and refrigerate in the AC room. We need to de-crankify.

I still need to get to the library too. Ugh. Too much to do.

Poor Leo. I really hope it leans toward the best-case scenario. I love the little guy, but this is not friendly on my finances, especially with the $200 it's likely to be at our vet in addition to the $713 from the ER clinic. Ouch.
