*chuckles* Yep. kolys and I are definitely going to be the last folks to finish. I'm at page 155, I think. And he's somewhere around 115, I think he said. (I started before he did - he's only gotten it during bathroom trips. *grin*)
I just couldn't justify spending all day reading, when I had a Hubby here at home. And there was no way I was finishing it last night. I read, I think, two chapters, after you guys left. But by then, I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, and I was rereading lines because I was too sleepy to remember them.
Tomorrow, though, I'll probably spend a large chunk of the day curled up on the sofa. :) I have an appointment at noon, but other than that my agenda is clear.
I also sent you copies of papers and such, whenever you have a chance to take a look.
To be honest, I didn't spend all night, or all day reading. Well, a good chunk of the night, but I still got about 5 hours sleep. And mechanchaos and I still got to get out of the house. I'm itchy to talk about the book. I know that's not a good idea yet. ***hugs ***
I'm about halfway through. I'm kind of nonplussed, really. The whole thing feels like it's heavily influenced by the movies... shallow on emotions and leadup and suspense. Not sure though, maybe it'll get better.
To me some of it does and some of it doesn't. I'm also the sort of person who, at least on first read, can let go and live the story as if I was there. Regardless of critiques and other forms of nitpicking, I enjoy JKR's overall style of writing. All I have to do is start and I can be halfway through the book in what seems like no time at all.
Perhaps the shallower approach has to do with the opinions floating around that each book was a good chunk larger than the last. Each of the books seems to fly through the school year. Before you know it it's christmas holiday, then next thing you know final examinations are coming up. That quality preceeded the movies.
***shrugs*** Once mechanchaos has read through it, I'll likely do a reread for nitpickies.
