My folks went to Ireland this past May. One of the things my Mom brought me was a fragrance from the Burren Perfumery.

My mom and I don't exactly have the same tastes in perfume, me being more apt to shop at BPAL or my local New Age store than a department store counter. However, she did do a rather faithful job at finding one that reminded her of the old Bath and Body Works Freesia I used to like.

The more I read about the place, the more it fascinates me. This is the real stuff. For the most part it is grown and distilled in the Burren, and many of the plants they use are organic. Some of the more common indigenous ingredients are gathered from the wild. Not many manufacturers or perfumiers bother with the distilling-real-plants bit anymore, and certainly not the go-out-and-gather-the-plants part.

It's a fascinating place, and the more I try out the fragrance she gave me, the more moods come out of it. I'm one of those weirdos who isn't content with just one perfume at a time. I like to sniff around my collection to layer two or more for an effect that is unique to my mood, the day, and my current body chemistry.

OK, it's late and I'm babbly. My mom sent the link in an email, though, and I was unable to resist a peek.

P.S. - Does anyone know where to find a nice, single-note lime perfume oil? The lime in BPAL's muse worked so nicely with me, I want to experiment with lime and other members of my eclectic collection. Then again, I may just give in and order another round of imps for experimenting... On the other hand, BPAL's stuff has a nice complexity often without combination. OK OK, I'll stop babbling.
