Neat! I had several nights out and about in one weekend. Friday, [livejournal.com profile] hbbtrbbtbcnbt and her family opened up her house for a social gathering, including [livejournal.com profile] dawnstar, [livejournal.com profile] kolys, Liam, [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos, Aidan and I. Always lovely to get to hang out with all of them, and it's really neat getting to hold Liam as he starts looking around at all the fun stuff going on. :) I wonder why it is that I am inclined to randomly scat and dance around with babies...

While out to dinner at Golden Port Dim Sum, I decided Saturday was going to be our belated 9th anniversary celebration. Yummy celebration. [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos and I went to Vertex after dinner, where I found out just how out of shape I am while dancing to a lot of fun music. We retired a little early, but [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos definitely needed the rest. Even though I kept my head long enough to do a cool down walk and a full set of stretches when we got home, I woke up with achy, sore legs. I think sore legs are definitely endurable for the sake of an excellent night out followed by yummy snuggles. It'd probably do me good to get back in shape, though...

Since Aidan's not back from Buffalo until tomorrow, we made this evening a night out to the movies. We had seen The Last Man on Earth which [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos downloaded from the internet archive while at work. How could we pass up the chance to see this year's version? I find the modern version more engaging that its 1950's counterpart.

For round two of our movie night out, we went to see Cloverfield, which is a modern take on the classic giant-monster-crushes-city movie. The movie would be entertaining enough if I wasn't someone who regularly suffers from motion sickness...

The entire movie is filmed in that hand-held-camera sort of style. Once in awhile the shot holds relatively steady enough for one such as myself to feel less sick to my stomach. Still, I barely made it through the movie with my dinner intact. This was not due to gore or special effects or characters being turned into hamburger... This was due to my eyes in constant motion trying to focus on the images in the screen and my inner ears screaming to my visual input that, contrary to what my eyes were telling me, I was sitting perfectly still.

Cue the very physical reaction of overheating, dizziness, and nausea. Not fun.

Granted, tonight was one of the coldest nights we've had this winter. I was glad I was only wearing a fleece jacket with a t-shirt on underneath. A nice slow walk to the car in the cold helped me get back to a state of not-dizzy. What helped me recover the rest of the way was a ride home from the theater with the heat off while drinking water which had sat in the vehicle for both movies. It is as if my body doesn't regulate its own temperature well. I'm like some cold-blooded critter.

[livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos is the opposite of me when it comes to cold. I am very thankful that he put up with the extreme cold of the ride home so that I could feel more human again.

Moral of the story: fun movie to see, so long as you're not prone to motion sickness. Really, I'm not sorry I watched it in general. I'm more fascinated that the human body can have such an intense reaction when no real wrong is being done to it. I am also oddly amused at how well suited I am to winter weather.

Overall, it was a great weekend. I got to see friends, I got to go dancing, I got to have yummy food, I got to see two movies which we had planned on seeing at some point, and I got to have some very excellent times, conversations, sex, and snuggles with my husband. Quite nice, if you ask me. Now, to drink some more cold water and settle in for the night.

YAY for a fun night out, even with residual aches in the morning!!!! YAY for 9 years!!!! *loves and hugs you both*

I know if I were to go to Vertex, I would be paying for it the day after, also out of shape. It would be fun, though.....I have a mental list of songs I would love to dance to :)

Legs still achy. I'm thinking I ought to nab a walk before Aidan and my Mom arrive this afternoon. It helps that I'm actually awake this morning!

OMG, ditto. I haven't even gone for a walk since before Liam was born... and obviously I was taking things pretty slowly at that point. (Hard to speedwalk with a beach-ball-belly!)

This week, I'm hoping to get back to doing yoga at least.

*hugs to both of you and yays for having gotten to see everyone Friday night!* It really does wonders for me when I can do "normal" things with baby in tow. I don't feel like I have to just sit at home because I'm a mom now. Plus, it helps my anxiety levels tone down to reality when I let other people hold him. A couple of weeks ago, I would have never been okay with one of the boys hold him, nor someone who'd been feverish, etc. I'm proud of myself for being able to let my worries slide a little bit for the evening.

Considering I've averaged 99.something ever since going on Prozac, I don't know if I can trust any particular temperature as "normal" for me.

It was awesome to get Liam time, and excellent as well to get to hang out with you and everyone on Friday. :)

I wish you success in getting back into yoga. ***hugs lots and tightly***
