So, on the drive home from Druids this evening, I came upon an interesting fade on WBER. They followed Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" with "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie. The intro to the latter is about 4 minutes long, and the fade was smooth enough that I wondered at first if the music I was listening was some remixed add-on to "Hallelujah." Maybe it was just the sleepies getting to me, but I was entranced. I listened for several minutes (after I realized it was indeed a separate song) hoping that lyrics would let me know more about the song, but eventually I got home and shut off the car. My curiosity was piqued enough to look up the song on WBER's website, then to find a way to listen to the whole thing. I just repeated it a few times trying to figure out what it was about the song that really caught my attention. It just hit me. It sounds, to me, like a cross between The Cure and Tool. Hmmm.
