Well, despite a fresh round of the yicky sicks, I ended up reading Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata... and finishing it. A quick read, it didn't have to drag me through it kicking and screaming. I ran along with it of my own free will. Beautiful and melancholy, I don't think I've ever read anything with such strikingly poetic language. To think, this copy is only a translation. I'd love to come to a point where I can read the original and understand what nuances may have been lost. What can I say? In less than a single day I've become rather fond of Snow Country.

John and I just did our major grocery run for the week, so we're all set in the ways stores can help. Thank you for the offer, though!
Anyhow, I'm feeling a little better today. Headache isn't quite so crank-inducing, tummy is back in order, thought my nose and throat still aren't exactly cooperating.

Are you folks heading to Buffalo over the weekend at all?
