8:00am- I'm out trying to shovel my way down to the sidewalk so I can walk my son to school.

8:20am- I'm still going at it. It's tough going. Aidan's almost late. [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos tries to drive him to school before the driveway is shovelled, and gets stuck in the at-least-20-inches-worth of hard-packed plow-in. He calls the school to tell them Aidan will be a little late, then walks him to school.

8:30am- I set to work to try to dig the AWD Subaru out.

about 9:00am- [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos gets back and digs too. We dig... and dig... and dig...

Around 9:30-10:00am- A neighbor snowplowing his driveway was hailed by the neighbor with whom we share a driveway to do her driveway too. He comes over and starts to help us get the car unstuck. He pushes to no avail. He nabs someone who I think is his housemate. They both alternate between pushing and helping to shovel. Finally the car is unstuck. [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos parks it on the street for the time being. The fellow with the plow starts doing our next door neighbor's driveway, and ends up doing ours too. Wow. That cut down on what we needed to shovel. It cost us $10, but it had upped our morale so much, it was worth it.

A little after 10:00am- We get to work neatening up the back so that the landlady doesn't throw a hissy fit about needing to get in the back to feed the birds, and getting as much of the leftover loose snow in the driveway as can be, so we don't have to worry so much about the buildup in the driveway.

This took us through until it was time to pick up the kiddo, a little after 11:00am.

I thought I could rest then, and settled down by the computer with my breakfast, finished my cereal, and noticed that a box of tiny polished semiprecious gemstones had upended onto, and (since the side was off from the reinstall) into the computer.

I got all those gathered. Still chilly from spending several hours in the cold, I go to up the heat a little. ***ZAP!*** So much for touching the thermostat. I received a shock big enough to set my fingers tingling and cause an unpleasant pain in the muscle in my forarm closest to my elbow. UGH!

Never mind the fact that my ankle went out three times while shovelling despite ace bandage and supportive boots.

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention the pink that was dripping a little into the snow from our car. Looks like we need to get a transmission fluid leak fixed with money we don't have. Never mind the tires and the passenger side mirror... UGH.

EDIT #2: 2:12pm- While washing the stove, I set the spoonrest aside. As I was drying the stove afterwards, my elbow knocked the spoonrest off. ***crash*** It wasn't even a household item I liked that much, but I liked its functionality. Just one more reason it's a bad day, and one more mess to clean up.

Though from what I've heard, mine pales next to the day some others are having. Can we just rewind the world, please? Someone launched the Really Bad Day program on extra-deep-shit level. Dump it on the White House, not here...

*sneaks in an extra hug when you aren't looking*

In brighter news - quite literally - the snow has stopped and the sun is peeking out.

Wow! And I wasn't even looking. But what I was doing was even more important. I got in about an hour and a half worth of cuddlenap on the couch with my son. Now that is definitely time well spent. I got to nap, I got to have quality time with Aidan, I got enough nap to make a difference, and I got to wake up to his angelic sleeping face. Isn't it funny how all kids look perfect when they're snoozing! I woke up with a smile, such a goodness.
