I sent [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos out for the tape that I'd forgotten to get. A few minutes later he came running back in, panicky about the car. Apparently the shifter was acting funny, refusing to do anything but drive. He put it in park to see what was going on and the shifter locked. Then it just wouldn't start at all. The lights went on, but it made a rather sickly sound.

He and I tried to get it pushed back in the driveway, but I wasn't much help. Thankfully, [livejournal.com profile] hbbtrbbtbcnbt's husband Matt was available to come help out. They managed to get it back into driveway so it isn't a hazard.

Looks like the plan as it stands is that [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos will call in to work, then head over as early as possible to try to get this taken care of.

Not fun, not fun at all.

*hugs muches* Sorry we couldn't be more help! I'm glad John and Matt were able to get it done, though.

*crosses fingers that it isn't some big scary thing*

NEWS UPDATE

The mechanic called me back at work and he tells me that the shifter cable broke. It can be repaired but he needs a part overnighted to him.
When he gets the part tomorrow he will work on it. I am also having him look at the broken mirror and see if he can fix that too. Final dammage before mirror $275. Not that bad. It should be done tomorrow afternoon.

Re: NEWS UPDATE

Oh I forgot to mention there was a recall on my vehicle and he will be replacing our master cylinder. We were not aware of this previously.:0

Re: NEWS UPDATE

I gave my boss the option of me coming in at 1 and hoping its done or him taking me in at 10. He decided that he will pick me up around 9:30 and bring me in. I will still need a ride home unfortunately. Dawn has generously offered to take me home tonight. If anyone would like to offer we can plan about it here. I would be most appreciative.

Re: NEWS UPDATE

Along this thought, it sounds like we won't be able to pick it up tomorrow, since I can't drive it home.
