This morning I was terrified. I had presentations to do in both my History and English classes. I had difficulty with trembling and a dry throat. In History I was scheduled to be the first of our class's presenter's. Luckily I did well, which gave me the confidence to volunteer to go first for the second. In History I got A+'s on both paper and presentation. I got a 97 on my English paper. I won't know how I did on my English presentation for a few days, but it felt like it went well. To round off the day, I realized I have absolutely nothing due tomorrow. On top of that there was a certificate for making Dean's List last semester in the mail. Yep, it's a good day -- even more so because I was so emotionally low to begin with.

Have you taken a public speaking course? It did wonders for me.

Congrats :)

I've been considering it. It's not on the schedule for the fall semester, but perhaps after that. The weird thing is that I've sung in competition choir, I've sung solos, I've taken acting and voice classes, but I still get terrified beforehand. I can present well regardless of my fear and I know a few techniques to make it go more smoothly, like mentalling dissing everyone before hand ("and you can go to hell, and you can too, you can go slide down a spiked bannister with your..."), starting the presentation with an anecdote to break the ice, mentally going over relaxation techniques, yadda yadda yadda... On the other hand, I think it's helping that for two semesters in a row I've had presentations that went rather well. Perhaps that can boost my confidence in a long-term way.

Thank you very much for the congrats. :)

I went in the opposite direction as you---I was so proud of my progress in Public Speaking, and there was no second course, that I took Chorus! I find them to be completely different types of putting yourself out there, but then, I didn't have any solos. :) But I'm glad I didn't. It really boosts confidence as well.

I didn't really learn as many techniques in Speech as I just grew comfortable with having an audience because, well, I had to. I had two presentations this semester, in History and English, and I've been told I blew away everyone else this semester with the English one, and I haven't gotten my grade back in History but I got a lot of applause. We had to do questions at the end of our History presentations, and I threw a trick question in, which was actually a big hit because you could hear everyone's brains click when they finally got the answer...

:) ***wishes you well on the History presentation*** I realize it's in the past, but I know what it's like to wait for a grade.

I'm glad things went well. I was thinking about you today, knowing you had the presentation to do.

*pokes around online, wondering if she'll see you on tonight*

Have you given any thought to my invitation for this weekend? :)

Thought, yes, but not enough to make a decision. ***hugs you***
