Pope Benedict XVI denounces gay marriage.

It's been somewhere around two decades since I considered myself Catholic in any way... Things like this make me glad of my choice.

Not just gay marriage, but the whole non-"standard" gender spectrum...argh. I'd like to be angry about it, but it just makes me sad, too. Especially to realize that from his POV, he IS right. It hurts.

*nodnods* Even if I wanted to be Catholic, this kind of stuff would leave me feeling alienated enough to seek other avenues.

i'm *so* glad that i'm a heathen. i'm also not surprised in the least by this. *shrugs* i haven't been a fan of this Pope since he was a highly placed Cardinal. something about the guy makes my hackles go up, aside from his uber-conservative agenda.
