Hugs out to everyone!

My son just lost his first tooth. It's neat. I'd just gone in to put away some freshly folded clothes, but it woke him up. The tooth fell out as I was putting them away! Together we put it under his pillow. I can be so cynical sometimes, yet I still feel joy in observing the custom of the tooth fairy. He let me check out the space. Sure enough, I could see the white of the secondary tooth waiting to grow in!

He's only four though. I've read sometimes teeth don't start falling out until later. My mom said I lost my first one on the first day of kindergarten. We'll have to ask about when [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos lost his first. Being a mom is such a different perspective on growing up.

I want to dance around, but at the same time I want to bawl my eyes out. I love my son!

Awww! *hugs you tightly here, too*

I can almost understand the perspective shift, and yet totally can't. It's one of those things that makes sense but I just know I'm not /really/ getting it because I'm not there yet.

*loves you, and hopes you'll share the love with John and Aidan too* :)

***hugs tightly and loves***

I'll definitely spread that! Oh, and I just successfully performed the switcheroo. I managed not to flub my dex roll with my hand under his pillow. He was very soundly sleeping this time!

John and I decided to give fifty cents since I started out getting a quarter each, and he started out with three quarters.

***hugs lots and tightly***

Yay! Can't wait to hear about his reaction this morning when he woke up and found it! :)

He was sooooooo excited. He'd forgotten to check until [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos reminded him. Then he ran all over the house with them exultant! I asked him what he wanted to get with them. He answered, "clothes." I gently let him know that $0.50 isn't enough for that, but that if we put it together with his other birthday / christmas monies, that we might have enough. He's got $36.50 hanging around now. I told him to remind me to bring it along next time we're going shopping and we'll see what he wants. :)

Yay!!!!!!!!! *happy dances*

The range of age for losing teeth is big. 4 is certainly on the younger end of it, and I remember my dentist telling my mother that I wasn't late, and I was just shy of 8 when I started losing teeth.

Yay for changing perspectives, even when they are strange sometimes :) It's always amazing to encounter something that seemed so awesome as a child from the view of a parent, and wondering if it's too fast/too slow/really ok or not. Sometimes, I see that it's not so hard or so bad as I thought. Other times, I wonder what the hell my parents were thinking!!! *hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs!!!*

[livejournal.com profile] stickcow always put some confetti glitter stuff on the pillow when she put the money down...I always thought that was a brilliant idea. I haven't had a chance to use it. Tash lost the four and hasn't lost one since..it's been like a year. Blah :)

That is such a neat idea!!!!! It gives my a very childlike glee to be the one to enact these little rituals of childhood. Some of Aidan's other teeth have a touch of wiggle to them. Not tons, but enough to make me wonder if I'll get to play tooth fairy again within the year.

Thank you lots for sharing [livejournal.com profile] stickcow's great idea with me!
